music monday

Long time no blog eh? yeah… I’m horrible. I know. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat down to blog & have even started some posts only to stop mid-way through and be like… oh… I just. don’t. want. to.

Let’s hope that phase is over. To get back into the groove of things I decided to do a music monday post and share some of my favorite songs I’ve been lovin in 2012. If you don’t know what Spotify is then you are missing out on the greatest free thing known to man. It’s a completely free music player, and has pretty much any song you could want to listen to. You can make your own playlists, & in my opinion, it’s better than all the other similar music websites ie. grooveshark. I would’ve shared my Spotify playlist on here but you have to be a Spotify user to listen to the songs… so join Spotify & we won’t have this issue.

Anyways… lets jam.

Avalanche City- Love Love Love … I’m a little late to the party cuz I just discovered Avalanche City but I’m already in love

Mumford & Sons- I Will Wait … what M&S song am I not infatuated with? They can do no wrong

The Shins- Simple Song … I’ve listened to The Shins since middle school & I still can’t get enough

James Vincent McMorrow- We Don’t Eat … love this song

The Vaccines- If  You Wanna … infectious indie rock. their music takes me back to another decade

Foster the People- Warrant … love this whole album, can’t wait for them to come out with some new stuff

Ed Sheeran- Give Me Love … this Ron Weasley look-a-like is amazing. He’s my new John Mayer. And THAT is saying somethingTwo Door Cinema Club- Something Good Can Work … love love love them. this is my go to car cd

Bombay Bicycle Club- Shuffle … their album is very chill but oh so good

Graffiti6- Free … I don’t know why this song isn’t more popular! Another great album

The Black Keys- Gold On the Ceiling … If you don’t love The Black Keys, then I don’t even know what to do with you… everybody loves them

Awolnation- Kill Your Heroes …Don’t let their slightly screamy sound scare you away. They’re the bees knees

Imagine Dragons- Radioactive …I’m so glad I went to their shows while they were free! Now they’re making it big & I couldn’t be happier for them!

Obviously I LOVE music, so if there are any songs out there that you’re loving right now, let me know in the comments! I’m always looking for new stuff. All the songs I chose are kind of from a similar genre so I might start doing a few of these posts every now & again to share different kinds of music. Cuz lets face it, as much I might try to hide it, we all know I also listen to 1D, Pitbull, & Ke$ha. I simply can’t resist. It’s good to be back!

going to a movie by yourself

I have a bucket list. One thing that has been on that bucket list for quite some time is to go see a movie by myself. Last week… I finally did it! It’s one of those things to have on a bucket list that is totally attainable for most people, yet not so easy for me. It was on my bucket list in the first place because it was something that put me outside of my comfort zone.

I’ve always feared what people would think. I mean, when I’ve been at movies with friends and I’ve seen someone alone, I don’t think it’s “weird”, but I always look at them and try to decipher their story… are they here alone b/c they don’t have anyone to go with? do they prefer seeing movies alone? did they have a friend cancel on them? The list goes on and on.

Let me tell you, I actually didn’t mind going to the theater alone. Granted I went mid-week & mid-day, but hey I still deserve credit. The only times I felt the slightest bit self-conscious was when lights began to dim, the previews started to roll, & there I was… still sitting alone. I also felt a tad self-conscious walking out of the theater alone as everyone else was talking about the movie with the people they came with. However, once I stepped into the parking lot, I felt invigorated. Like, yeah… I totally just did that, totally just saw a movie by myself & I’m ok with it. I would even do it again. Triumph!

It was nice to not have to talk to anyone about the movie… the whole “so what’d you think” bit. I just thought about the movie on my drive home. It was wonderful. There’s also something nice about just picking up and going to a movie when it’s convenient for you. No making plans, no coordinating times with people… if there’s a movie you’d like to see just go!

So what movie did I see you ask? The Dark Knight Rises… it was super long, but super amazing. Mid-way through the film I was thinking… “ugh this is way too long, lets just cut to the chase, this is not as good as everyone has hyped it up to be.” Yeah, I thought that until the last 20-30 minutes of the movie & then my mind was blown! Ahhhhhh loved it.

So what do you think? Have you or would you ever go to the movies alone? Do share!

Post Olympia

The Olympics are over. Now what am I going to do with my life? I watched every single primetime Olympic event, if not live, at least later on my DVR. I still watched even though nearly every event was spoiled for me before it aired. You couldn’t go on google, Twitter, Facebook, or even Pinterest for crying out loud without seeing a spoiler. Even still, the Olympics were amazing.

And what about Nathan Adrian? I talked about him before the Olympics began and how hopeful I was for him in these games. Umm… he definitley delivered for team USA. Good job Nathan, I knew you were destined for greatness. He’ll be on the Today Show tomorrow morning’ so look out! And… One Direction in the Closing Ceremonies? What? From the X Factor to Olympic performance? Crazy! Good thing I blogged about them so you’d all know who they were right? Am I right? 🙂

Someone on Twitter, but I can’t remember who, tweeted – funny that Adele wasn’t there, what if if she just showed up out of the blue, uninvited? haha I thought that was purty hilarious. I’m easily entertained. Best moment of the closing ceremonies? Spice Girls. Hands down.

They all looked amazing & check out this awesome gif I found…

Doesn’t that look like so much fun?! If I had rockstar dreams, they would be about riding on the top of a car singing with my hair blowing in the wind. They showed some clips of the athletes during their performance and they weren’t even getting into it. I thought, you don’t deserve to be there. You may have won a gold medal in women’s soccer but, I win a gold medal for having a good time during a Spice Girls performance. After the ceremonies were over I think I went & listened to “Spice Up Your Life” at least five times. If you didn’t do that too, something must be wrong with you.
